The Campbell Scholars Program supports underserved yet high-achieving first generation students and their families along the college and career pathway from 6th grade through college graduation.
The Program extends the core resources, learning philosophy, and opportunities of the independent school experience to students in under-resourced schools through continuous enrichment programs from the end of 6th grade through college graduation.
Students admitted join a strong peer network of like-minded middle school students who face similar obstacles, but also share high aspirations. Expert teachers and college students guide program participants through an engaging, hand-on curriculum designed to engender intellectual curiosity, thoughtfulness, creativity, persistence, determination, and courage. In addition to the academic components, there are field trips, guest speakers, and activities to inspire the very best in our kids.
The academic curriculum is rigorous yet engaging and is designed to cultivate a love of learning. Each day includes math and English classes taught by experienced teachers with the support of college-student mentors. In addition to classroom learning, students engage in hands-on, project-based learning designed to promote collaboration, teamwork, and healthy competition. These activities are designed to develop the academic habits required to thrive in challenging academic environments.
