Students Build Houses in Mexico

In early March, 60 students and 10 faculty from Campbell Hall crossed the border into Mexico and drove to the small town of Valle de las Palmas where they worked with dozens of local community members and an organization called Corazon to build two small houses for two families in need. The built frames and roofs, stairs and kitchen counters, painted everything in sight, and by the end of the day there were two houses standing where there was once just a concrete foundation.
More importantly, those houses now belong to two local families who worked over 500 hours of community service each to earn their new homes, which have windows and locking doors, and which they own outright. The students may have only given a day of their time and effort, but they changed the lives of these families forever.
